España and beyond
During the pandemic in late 2020, I received an offer to join a design team in Spain… and in March 2021, my partner and I moved from Berlin to Barcelona. That role didn’t exactly work out, but a referral did. Now, 1.5 years later, 38 has been my favourite year of life thus far, and as my old friend Jenn put it, I’ve “reached another form - not a new one, but the realization of one that was always there.”
I originally wrote out a long, heartfelt elaboration about the ups and downs, lessons and insights from reflecting upon these last eighteen months for this piece, but then Chrome crashed, and Squarespace doesn’t autosave progress, so it is forever lost now to the intervoid. In lieu of rewriting this, I’ll just say thank you/gracias/danke to everyone who made this time absolutely pivotal within my life, love and career.
I’ve grown so much as a human outside of my comfort zone, met challenges, acquired new skills, set and met and surpassed some goals, failed at others, given back to my family and friends, created some loverly things, reconnected with people I love, met and traveled and danced and sung and sailed and surfed and eaten and celebrated with others. I’m exceptionally happy for having lived this period of my life the way I have as my career and I enter another chapter forward, and recognize both my privilege and capacity to do so with gratitude and affection. 🥰
