MAKE

In August, Cor came up with the idea of creating a sort of vision wall focused on the concept of stuff to make. During the development of the concept, the idea to create large 3D letters arose, and using math, cardboard, tape, glue, scissors and my favourite typefaces, I  ran with it.

After deciding on a combination of Museo Sans, Helvetica and Akzidenz Grotesk, I went to work outlining the four letters in Illustrator, adjusting them to a comparatively workable size, then measuring them to scale upon dismantled industrial cardboard boxes (the ink marks are still clearly visible). I worked out the dimensions of each letter, made additional folding tabs outside of each facade, and cut. I carefully bent,  glued and taped four-inch-thick sides along each letter to the aforementioned tabs, and hung them accordingly.

Cor later decided that she prefered white to cardboard for the front of the letters, so she painted them. From there, we began adding to the collection of things to make. We've also extended the invitation to guests who feel inclined or inspired to add to the wall, and the list has grown steadily.

Among the things to make are:

Food babies

time

love

tea

plans

BEER

NOISE

FRIENDS

SHIT UP

CAESARS

BELIEVE

OUT

MEMORIES

WAVES
